About the song, "Danny Boy"
The melody of "Danny Boy" is based on the beautiful Irish folk song "Londonderry Air." An English man, Frederic Weatherly wrote the lyrics about a note from a parent to a son who left for a war.
Tips for playing Level 4 "Danny Boy":
This particular arrangement of "Danny Boy" is at an intermediate level (Level 4). The fingering numbers are not provided. There are 2 sections in this arrangement. The 1st section and the 2nd section have different left-hand accompaniments even though the right-hand parts (melody) are basically the same. The left-hand accompaniment in the 1st section has broken chords, and the one in the 2nd section has blocked chords. The damper (sustain) pedal marking is not specified. But please use it throughout the song. The appropriate way to operate the damper pedal is to replace it each time the harmony (chord) changes. Please be considerate about musical phrases where you see the slur sign (legato).
This Level 4 "Danny Boy" is arranged for piano solo. However, you or someone else can sing along. The separate lyrics page is included in the PDF file.
