Tips for playing Level 2 "Maple Leaf Rag":

This arrangement of "Maple Leaf Rag" is at Level 2 (very easy). You will have 2 hand-positions in the entire song. After download it, please locate those 2 hand positions on the tutorial page. On the 1st page, you need to use the 1st position. On the 2nd page, most of the time you need to use the 2nd position. There are several black keys in the song. When you see a flat (b) sign or sharp sign (#) on the music score, please go to a black key pictured on the tutorial page with the proper finger. When you see a natural sign, please go back to the original white key. The fingering numbers are marked on every note on the music score. There is only one short section where you need to use a damper (sustain) pedal. And the pedal sign is marked below the left-hand part. In this level of arrangement, you'll be playing both the melody notes and harmonic notes. Therefore, it requires quite a lot of coordination between the hands and fingers. The repeat signs (the 1st and 2nd endings, D.C. al Coda, etc.) are a bit confusing for Level 2 players. Please listen to our free complete audio sample on the top of this page to make sure your direction is correct after you download the music. Enjoy the challenge.
