Tips for Level 5 "Clair de lune" by Debussy
This particular arrangement is at Level 5 (advanced). And it is in the original key of D flat major. And some small number of measures are in the key of E major temporarily. Therefore, there will be a lot of black keys that you need to be playing throughout. We recommend you to position your hands close to the black keys for the entire piece.
This arrangement is a lot more challenging than Level 4 "Clair de lune" but easier than the original version. People with smaller hands can play this arrangement more easily than the original version since they don't need to hold extended notes at the same time. And it sounds as good as the original. Please refer to our free complete audio sample on the top of this page. Level 2, 3, and 4 arrangements don't have the challenging midsection. However, this Level 5 arrangement has the exact same length as the original version. There are 6 pages of the music sheet.
The fingering numbers are not provided for this level of "Clair de lune" (except on 2 notes). You should be using the damper (sustain) pedal for the entire song. However, the specific pedal markings are not provided for this level of arrangement.
