As some of you know, the reason for starting Galaxy Music Notes comes from being inspired by the amazing gorgeous orchestral suite, The Planets written by an English composer Gustav Holst (1874 - 1934). I just want to talk a little about him just in case you don’t know much about him. His musical influences come from composers such as Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, and Arnold Schoenberg and also strongly come from English folk songs. He was so shy that he didn’t take his fame very well and kept teaching his music students quietly as a very dedicated music teacher. Besides his dedication and interest in music he was also interested in ancient Greek astrology which led him to compose this amazing suite, The Planets. He was also interested in Indian mythology that influenced some of his other compositions.
